Orthopedic Surgery – Research, Experience, and Care

Dr. Christof Radler Orthopädische Chirurgie

My mission is to provide optimum care based on long-term experience, latest research, and compassion.

My areas of expertise include correction of congenital and acquired deformities and malformations in children and adults, treatment of clubfoot, and limb lengthening. I perform approximately 300 surgeries for those conditions every year.

I am a full-time senior consultant at the Department of Pediatric Orthopedics and Adult Foot and Ankle Surgery at the Orthopedic Hospital Speising Vienna (since 2009) and Deputy Chief and Head of the Pediatric Orthopedic Team (since 2013). In that capacity, I cover a spectrum of pediatric orthopedics from hip to toe.

In addition to the many years of surgical experience at the Orthopedic Hospital Speising, I was able to broaden my experience and gain additional insight at the renowned International Center for Limb Lengthening in Baltimore, Maryland (USA) and at the Ilizarov Center in Kurgan (Russia).

Since 2013, I have performed limb lengthening using the Precice intramedullary lengthening nail (NuVasive, Inc., San Diego, California, USA) and have taught colleagues from around the world to use this technology and surgical technique.

Another focus of my scientific and clinical work is congenital foot deformities, especially clubfoot. As early as 1999, I was introduced to the Ponseti technique of clubfoot treatment by my mentor, Dr. John Herzenberg, in Baltimore. Two years later, I had the privilege to learn more about the technique directly from Dr. Ponseti in Iowa (USA). In the autumn of 2002, I introduced the Ponseti technique at the Orthopedic Hospital Speising.

As a result of my research and longtime clinical experience, I serve as faculty in many pediatric orthopedic and limb deformity courses and meetings worldwide.

In their ranking of doctors, the business magazine Trend listed me as one of Austria’s best orthopedic surgeons.

I am looking forward to meeting you and forming a personalized treatment plan.
